4D Imaging from Cardiac MRI Program

The collaborative combined cardiac MRI program between Radiology and the Heart Vascular Institute (HVI), under the leadership of Drs. Joan Lacomis (Radiology) and Timothy Wong (HVI), is something we are all proud of. The program recently obtained four-dimensional (4D) color flow imaging which has already proven very helpful in both the pediatric and adult cardiovascular populations. This is an example of an incidental aortic coarctation that was identified in an adult. Note the flow acceleration through the narrowed segment, accompanied by a post-stenotic helical flow pattern. The 4D postprocessing was done by Dr. Omer Onder who is a clinical instructor doing fellowship training in cardiothoracic imaging in our department.
